- The air cargo industry is a USD 60 billion business, and passenger-accompanied air cargo is a major profit maker accounting for approximately 15% of the industry's overall revenue. At a high lever aviation security conference held by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in September 2012, ICAO advised that civil aviation was estimated to grow by 6% in 2013; 6.4% in 2014, and 4.9% on an annual basis until 2012, such growth being encouraging to the air transport industry from an economic perspective.

The World Bank Group (WBG) fiscal year 2012 Air Transport Portfolio includes nearly 30 projects or project components in all six World Bank regions, as well as 20 active IFC investments and several advisory mandates.
The Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL), of the Faculty of Law at McGill University, intends to appoint one or two Postdoctoral Research Fellow(s).
The position(s) is (are) funded by the Erin J C Arsenault Trust Fund. The research team is led by Prof. Ram Jakhu, Associate Professor, and Associate Director of the Centre for Research in Air and Space Law. The position(s) is (are) for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
Conference Report - Third Workshop and International Conference on Emerging Trends in Aviation and Space Applications
The Third Workshop and International Conference on Emerging Trends in Aviation and Space Applications: Legal, Safety and Policy Issues was jointly organised by the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University, International Foundation for Aviation, Aerospace & Development (India Chapter) and the National Law University, Delhi from 25 – 29 April, 2012 at New Delhi, India to commemorate the centenary of Indian aviation. The event was sponsored with the help of generous funding from Boeing, Erin J.C. Arsenault Trust Fund and Sarin Foundation.
The Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL), of the Faculty of Law at McGill University, invites applications to the Arsenault Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. The IASL intends to appoint one or two Postdoctoral Research Fellow(s) starting September 2012.
- This article draws on circumstances that have spurred the World Bank onto considering the feasibility of imposing a global fuel tax on aviation as mandated by the Finance Ministers of the G20 countries. It argues that the thinking behind this measure is fundamentally flawed when considered as a means of finding financial resources to replenish the Green Fund as envisioned by the developed countries at the meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2010.

and the ensuing violence in North Africa and the Middle East in 2011 seriously
disrupted tourism and air transport and brought to bear the fact that sustenance of
airport and aviation security is vital if global connectivity were to be retained in

- Ever since we opened up the skies and thanks to our good economic growth, India is one of the very few countries that still have healthy double-digit growth in the domestic aviation market. This is also one sector in which private participation – in both the airlines and airports sectors – has benefited customers immensely. Liberalisation has helped and we can showcase this industry as a success of our policies. The only lesson one can learn from successful liberalisation should be that we should go for more liberalisation.
